The General (Catholic) Epistles
Christ for the Church Under Pressure
What sustains faith when the church feels small, scattered, or uncertain?
The General Epistles — James, 1–2 Peter, 1–3 John, and Jude — were written not to triumphant institutions, but to ordinary believers under pressure. They speak to churches facing suffering, false teaching, internal weakness, and the slow fatigue of long waiting.
These letters do not offer techniques for success. They offer clarity. They expose illusion. They steady the trembling heart. And again and again, they direct us to Christ — crucified, risen, and present for His people.
In this six-week study, we will read these books through the lens of the theology of the cross:
• Where the Law exposes self-deception
• Where the Gospel anchors assurance
• Where suffering is not failure but fellowship with Christ
• Where the church’s hope rests not in strength, but in promise
