Forgiveness Has Your Address

Mark 2:5 -

Forgiveness can be treated as a verdict we may accept once we have suffered enough to deserve it. The conscience keeps the account open, as though another sleepless night might contribute something Christ overlooked. But Jesus speaks to the paralytic in the gospel story before the man has offered any record of improvement: “My son, your sins are forgiven.” The authority of that word belongs to the Savior who will bear sin himself; it does not depend on the man’s ability to feel forgiven. When your own failures accuse you, you need not manufacture a kinder opinion of yourself. Christ has gone to the cross for you and risen from the dead, and the forgiveness he gives is yours. Even when your heart has trouble keeping up.
