GOD IS NOT KEEPING SCORE

2 Corinthians 5:19 — “In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them.”

We are inveterate scorekeepers with ourselves, with others, and especially with God. Paul announces something astonishing: in Christ, God has put the ledger away. Not because the sins did not matter, but because Christ has taken them upon himself.

The account has not been balanced by our repentance, our improvement, or our promises to do better. It has been closed at the cross, where God himself bears the cost and refuses to send us the bill.
