He Ran First

Luke 15:20 — “But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him.”

The son comes home with repentance rehearsed and a deal to propose. But the father runs, embraces, and kisses him before the speech can do any work. Grace does not wait to see whether your repentance is sincere enough. Christ simply gives the sinner back your name: son or daughter, child of God. All your bargaining dies in the father’s embrace..
