You Don't Have to Qualify

Romans 4:5 — “But to one who without works trusts him who justifies the ungodly, such faith is reckoned as righteousness.”

Still working on your best self? That's understandable. There is always something to work on, it seems. At the same time, it's an endless project. At least it can feel like one. We don't usually think of being anything less the best self as 'ungodly' but if we are not our best self then we are, at least, something less than that. But here is good news. God is not waiting for the best, or even better version of yourself to emerge before you are loved.

In Jesus, he meets you right where you are and there speaks the word that makes you what all your striving could never make you: righteous, forgiven, and free.
